Friends, as we have now learned, the four noble truths of storytelling are:
1. Everyone has a story
2. Everyone is a storyteller
3. Stories require practice
4. Therefore, one becomes more oneself through dedicated story practice
It was written down long ago, but only discovered by us in the last 5 minutes. We’re so happy to share it with you so soon!
Next Tuesday, our learning group will be back at the Impact Hub, Amsterdam having a storytelling practice session. All you have to do is come with a story you really need to tell – this could be about your work or business, it could be for a specific project, an outline for a script you’d like to work on, or video for your website. The feedback you get, the exercises you do and other stories you hear will all go into improving, polishing and sharpening your story.
You’ll get to practice in pairs, get feedback and we’ll set some exercises to help you go deeper, wider and higher in your storytelling skills. We’ll even start you off with a simple storytelling structure that was given to us by the super-legendary Terence Barry.
All that will take two hours and we’ll have a standard beer and post-match talk over after. There’s previous experience necessary. There’s nothing you need to do to prepare other than think of a story you want to prepare. You do not even have to pay!
See you on the 18th, we hope. Bring yourself and the best people you know!
We often have great ideas but how can we capture express who we really are in our business communications?
This day is designed to make you brilliant in creating and telling stories. Over the course of a day we take you through the elements of essential storytelling and apply them directly to projects or business you are currently engaged in. You will learn to express what it is you do, and do it in a way that inspires your key audiences. You’ll also get rapid feedback from your fellow participants and from expert storytelling consultant Simon Hodges. This is the 7th time we’ve run this workshop and we always find it full of energy and insight.

In any business a good story can mean the difference between your clients buying into an idea or taking their business elsewhere.
In this taster session (see video), join storytelling entrepreneur Simon Hodges for some of the tips and exercises he uses to get stories out of top professionals for use in their businesses. In doing so, you’ll kickstart an investigation into your own story.
Simon’s career unites corporate communications and performance storytelling. His awareness for what makes a good story and his ability to bring groups together form the basis of his consultancy that works for start-ups and major companies throughout Europe. In addition he is an official speakers’ coach for TEDxAmsterdam.

This four-hour workshop will enable the speakers of TEDxAmsterdam to deepen into the story they already have.
What emotion can they bring out? What is the deep meaning that could be discovered? Once found this becomes the basis for formulating a deeply compelling talk with purpose, coherence and meaning. The workshop will involve self-investigation and live story practice in a relaxed, supportive and playful atmosphere.
